BACKGROUND
Safety training is an integral part of the employee onboarding process, but it also requires regular “refresher” courses for compliance and effectiveness. Safety protocols change to keep up with changes in equipment, materials, and roles within the business.
Workplace safety training is a process that aims to provide your workforce with knowledge and skills to perform their work in a way that is safe for them and their co-workers. Ts. Azahar bin Rabu is a distinguished fire safety and industrial safety expert with over 14 years of experience in the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM). Combining hands-on field experience, technical expertise, and professional and academic credentials, he is recognized as a leading authority in Fire Safety, Building Compliance, Emergency Management, and Industrial Safety.
He currently serves as Advisor at ABR Brillante PLT, a leading fire safety training and consultancy firm. In this role, he oversees training module development, technical compliance reviews under UBBL 1984 (Amendment 2021), and strategic advisory services, assisting organizations to achieve the highest standards of fire safety in accordance with national and international regulations.
Previously, Ts. Azahar held senior positions including General Manager at Berjaya Assets Berhad, CEO of KOBOPEM Galtech Training Sdn Bhd, and Safety & Crisis Manager at The Exchange 106, where he led programs in fire safety management, emergency response, and compliance audits for high-profile facilities.

Professional Experience at JBPM
During his tenure at the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, Ts. Azahar:
- Reviewed and assessed over 2,000 architectural and M&E plans for fire safety compliance.
- Conducted over 100 building compliance inspections, covering commercial, industrial, and high-rise buildings.
- Actively participated in firefighting operations, HAZMAT response, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Contributed to the fire safety compliance process for the issuance of CCC under UBBL 1984.
- Managed prosecutions in the Magistrate’s Court related to non-compliance with MBK Notices and failure to submit Fire Certificates as a JBPM Prosecution Officer.
